Abstract: Tobacco Control Program Policy
Development
This resource has been developed as a learning tool to enable you to proceed
through the steps involved in the analysis, interpretation and application
of data collected towards tobacco control program planning and its application
in policy development.
Learning
objectives
On completion of this learning resource, students should be able to:
- Quantify the risk of disease in study populations;
- Interpret and apply data on disease burdens to program
planning;
- Perform preliminary exploration and analysis of research
data;
- Perform multivariate analysis of survey data relevant
to tobacco control;
- Analyze data on possible operational risk factors for
tobacco consumption;
- Interpret data on the social costs of tobacco consumption;
- Apply the data from the above analyses and any other
relevant data towards evidence-based policy development;
- Develop a plan to implement and evaluate a tobacco
control policy.
